1986/2003
Credits on back have incorrect track numbers. They say "Willie Dixon - Speech/Vocals (Tracks 1-8)" and "Fred Below - Drums (Track 9), but Dixon is not heard on Track 8. The liner notes (excerpted below) indicate that the last nine tracks (8-16) are live recordings--not the tape with Willie Dixon--which is evidence that Dixon is in fact not on Track 8. Further confirmation is found on the original 1986 LP release, which credits Dixon only on the first 7 tracks found here.
There are no drums on Track 9, but there are drums on Tracks 10, 12, and 13. The original 1986 LP credits Fred Below for drums on "The Whale" (here Track 10). Tracks 12 & 13 are not on the original LP, so I have left drums on those tracks uncredited.
Quotation from the liner notes:
"JB and Willie Dixon are together on these recordings made in 1962 in JB's own home. Willie taped this as an audition tape for JB to come to Europe on the large Blues packages which then dominated the European Blues scene. They are sitting down together, relaxed, away from any commercial, studio or club situation and they are caught here talking, jiving and singing the Blues in a manner that has seldom been caught on tape."
"The balance of this album is made up of nine exciting live versions of songs he had recorded in the studio."
