Ex membro dei Fleet Foxes, Tillman ha raggiunto una solida fama, sopratutto con l'ultimo disco Pure Comedy. Una fama che si è allargata a macchia d'olio, non così vasta da superare la sua ex band, ma comunque non di molto inferiore. John Misty fa del rock, abbastanza classico e, sopratutto in questo nuovo lavoro, abbandona certi toni mistici, da star, per fare della musica più diretta, più rock and roll, con il risultato di proporre un disco molto più fruibile che in passato.
