Amos Lee ha cambiato faccia. Da rocker ed autore con influenze jazzy, ha mutato via via il suo stile, trovando un terreno fertile per le sue ballate influenzate dal country. Mountain of Sorrow è un disco maturo, che risente di forti radici e di una bella scrittura. Ha registrato il disco a Nashville con Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Eric Church ) e nell'album suonano Jerry Douglas (Alison Krauss & Union Station), Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson and Family) e Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band ).
