Rufus Thomas "The Crown Prince of Dance" and his daughter Carla "The Queen of Memphis Soul" were cornerstones of the Stax sound, cutting hit after hit for the company for 13 solid years. Rufus, whose incredible career stretched back to the minstrel show days, was the king of the dance record long before disco became the rage, while Carla's sweet, youthful sound made her one of the most popular female vocalists of the Sixties.
