Il terzo album per la Nonesuch dei Magnetic Fields rappresenta una sorta di lato b del precendente Distortion, un CD di industrilal pop. Come nel precedente non ci sono sintetizzatori ma questa volta solo chitarre, violini e strumenti a corda vari, ed il disco, al contrairo del precedente, è elegante e raffinato. Registrato a Los Angeles, a detto dello stesso Merritt, questo è il suo album più folk.
