2 CD / DVD edition.

Tracks 1-4, 6, 7,10, 18: from the original "Christmas Wish" mini-LP (Rounder EP 2501) 1986.

This is a soul record done in a classic mode, not a re-creation of classic soul music. It is a record authentic to where these five great artists find themselves today- and in relationship to each other. It is music steeped in Tradition, but played with no particular reverence for it. This is the first of a series; and there is more to come.

Liner Notes: "...Old lazy bones Göttsching has pulled his fingers out and released an album consisting of one long (nearly one hour) piece of instrumental music, but don't be put off. It is marvellous. The ingredients are straight forward enough: one racey, sparkling, subtly changing rhythm over which is added a very fluid, understated guitar line. The result is hypnotic, refreshing and, dare I say it, beautiful." (David Elliott, Sounds, June 16 1984, GB)
